On Monday October 21, 2024, the Herz-Rose Park Project officially broke ground, marking an important milestone for the Terre Haute community. MSI Construction is proud to serve as the General Contractor for this transformative initiative, which is poised to become a vibrant centerpiece for neighborhood revitalization.
The park is designed as a welcoming hub for all ages and will feature public art by sculptor Greg Muller, a state-of-the-art playground, a splash pad, and flexible spaces for community events. Project Manager John Michael Major emphasized the project’s commitment to the local economy, stating, “This project will utilize LOCAL UNION LABOR, LOCAL materials, and LOCAL subcontractors. The funds spent will stay within the Terre Haute community!”
A special thank you goes to Terre Haute Mayor Brandon Sakbun for his inspiring remarks and hands-on involvement—personally operating the excavator to demolish the old shelter—alongside dedicated City employees. We also extend our appreciation to Art Spaces, Inc. and Executive Director Ally Midgley for their leadership in the planning process, as well as to Luke Waltz, architect with Land Stewards Design Group, for his thoughtful design vision
.
Additional features include a rustic, cedar-clad event center offering public restrooms and flexible rental space for community gatherings, beautifully designed landscaping, and expansive open green spaces. At the heart of the park, a striking fountain plaza with an integrated splash pad will serve as an inviting focal point for recreation, connection, and relaxation.
