MSI Construction’s senior leadership team has over 100 years combined experience in the building and civil construction industry. In addition, our project management team has another 100 years of combined experience in delivering quality projects of lasting value.

John V. Major
President
John has been in the construction industry for over 50 years. He got his start as a Carpenter and Superintendent at Major & Sons Construction, the company his father founded in 1957. In 1994 John renamed the company MSI Construction and became its President after his father Irvin’s retirement. John has been involved with all aspects of the construction process and oversees all construction operations.
John is also active in the community, serving as Vermillion County Surveyor for 16 years from 1989-2004, Area Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals.
In 2022, John received the prestigious President’s Award by the Wabash Valley Contractors Association. The President’s Award is the highest honor within the association. John was recognized for his outstanding support and dedication to the construction industry, commitment to the trades, and support of the association. Past recipients of this award is a benchmark for future recipients. They are given a personal plaque to keep, and a large shovel traveling plaque that highlights all of the past recipients.
Irvin A. (Tony) Major
EXCUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT/ SUPERINTENDENT
Tony is responsible for the management and oversight of the field operations and tradesmen. He is the son of the companies founder Irvin Major. Tony began working as a Carpenter in 1982 at Major & Sons Construction, and has played a key role in many of MSI’s top projects. Tony has managed projects for Duke Energy, International Paper, National Gypsum, Elanco, Indiana State University and many more.
Tony’s knowledge of carpentry, framing and concrete work is second to none. His ability to manage large scale commercial projects has allowed him to become an expert at managing the scheduling and budgeting process on large scale commercial projects.


John Michael F. Major
Operations Manager
John Michael's grandfather, Irvin Michael Major, started the business, MSI Construction in 1957, and grew his business throughout the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s. John Michael's father, John V. Major, was serving as president in 2010 when John Michael started working summers. As a shop boy during those summers at MSI Construction, he learned the ins and outs of construction management on small projects that he would later manage himself.
After graduating with a degree in Business and Construction Management from Indiana State University in 2013, John Michael went on to serve as Operations Manager at MSI Construction from 2018 until present day. Serving people has always been his focus and one of the major drivers of the company’s success.
John Michael is a young, dedicated leader who has served on multiple boards and councils in West Central Indiana. He currently serves on the Valley Professionals Community Health Center & the Wabash Valley Contractors Association Board of Directors.
In 2019, John Michael became President of the Vermillion County Council at just 24 years old—making him the youngest person to ever hold this position. In addition to his work on these boards and councils, he has also served as a board member of the Newport Chemical Depot Reuse Authority.
John Michael's dedication to community service has made him a trusted leader in West Central Indiana. He has worked tirelessly to strengthen our communities and provide training and opportunities for our next generation of leaders.
