John V. Major

President

John has been in the construction industry for over 50 years. He got his start as a Carpenter and Superintendent at Major & Sons Construction, the company his father founded in 1957. In 1994 John renamed the company MSI Construction and became its President after his father Irvin’s retirement. John has been involved with all aspects of the construction process and oversees all construction operations.

John is also active in the community, serving as Vermillion County Surveyor for 16 years from 1989-2004, Area Planning Commission, and Board of Zoning Appeals.

In 2022, John received the prestigious President’s Award by the Wabash Valley Contractors Association. The President’s Award is the highest honor within the association. John was recognized for his outstanding support and dedication to the construction industry, commitment to the trades, and support of the association. Past recipients of this award is a benchmark for future recipients. They are given a personal plaque to keep, and a large shovel traveling plaque that highlights all of the past recipients. 

Irvin A. (Tony) Major

EXCUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT/  SUPERINTENDENT

Tony, the son of Irvin Major who founded the company, is entrusted with the crucial role of managing and overseeing field operations and tradesmen. With over four decades of experience in carpentry, Tony has been an indispensable part of Major & Sons Construction, having worked on many of MSI's noteworthy projects. His portfolio includes prestigious clients such as Duke Energy, International Paper, National Gypsum, Elanco, Indiana State University, and others.

Tony's mastery of carpentry, framing, and concrete work is unparalleled. Moreover, his astute project management skills have enabled him to effectively manage large-scale commercial projects and oversee scheduling and budgeting processes with ease. As a result, Tony has earned a reputation as an expert in the field of commercial project management.

John Michael F. Major

Operations & Project Manager

In the early 2010s, John Michael embarked on his professional journey as a shop boy during summer breaks, immersing himself in the intricacies of day-to-day operations, business development, and the oversight of small projects. These formative experiences laid a solid foundation for his later roles as an Operations and Project Manager.

Upon graduating from Indiana State University with a degree in Business and Construction Management in 2018, John Michael joined MSI Construction as an Operations Manager—a role he still holds today. Throughout his career, he has consistently prioritized building enduring relationships with clients, a key factor in the company's success.

Beyond his contributions at MSI Construction, John Michael has been actively involved in West Central Indiana. His engagement includes serving on boards and committees for institutions such as the Valley Professionals Community Health Center, Wabash Valley Contractors Association Board of Directors, Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce Advocacy Committee, and the United Way of the Wabash Valley Business Cabinet

In a remarkable feat, John Michael, at just 24 years old in 2019, became the youngest person ever to hold the position of President of the Vermillion County Council. This accomplishment also marked him as the youngest county council president in Indiana's history. His journey in public service began in 2018 when he was elected to the Vermillion County Council shortly after graduating from Indiana State University. Additionally, he has been a valuable board member of the Newport Chemical Depot Reuse Authority.

John Michael's dedication to community service has positioned him as a respected leader in West Central Indiana. He has consistently worked towards strengthening local communities and providing opportunities and mentorship for the emerging generation of leaders.
