About the Role
The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier pricing, and supporting the project team throughout the bidding process.
Key Responsibilities:
Attend all required pre-bid and preconstruction meetings
Review project scope with the Project Manager and Area Manager prior to beginning estimates
Analyze and understand project cost codes before initiating takeoffs and pricing
Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure a complete understanding of project requirements
Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs for assigned project components
Visit job sites as needed to evaluate site conditions, constraints, and logistics
Solicit and obtain pricing from subcontractors, suppliers, and specialty vendors
Analyze, level, and input subcontractor and supplier quotes into estimate packages
Utilize estimating software to develop and manage project estimates
Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, and agencies such as INDOT
Support the lead estimator and project team throughout the bid process
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience using construction estimating software
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures
Strong analytical and mathematical skills
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
Effective communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Additional Responsibilities:
Build and maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders
Perform other related duties as assigned to support estimating and preconstruction efforts
Requirements
Minimum of a Bachelors of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Equal
Minimum of ten (10) years of estimating in all aspects of large Commercial/ Industrial/ Concrete construction projects (Buildings, underground, earthwork and concrete paving)
Minimum of 3 years working for a GC, CM, or Structural Engineer
Advance knowledge of Bluebeam and Winest software
Preferred field operations experience
