About the Role
The Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of structures and related facilities. This role requires the ability to work independently under general supervision while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform journey-level carpentry work including the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of buildings and structures
Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, and verbal instructions to complete assigned tasks
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to review work orders and project requirements
Estimate labor, material, and equipment needs for assigned projects
Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures using wood, plywood, metal, and wallboard
Build and dismantle frameworks such as walls, roofs, concrete forms, scaffolding, and temporary structures
Perform both rough and finish carpentry, including framing, in-wall blocking, drywall installation, and installation of doors, frames, hardware, cabinetry, trim, and millwork
Install partitions and perform general layout and framing work
Perform selective demolition of non-load-bearing structures and ensure proper debris removal
Pour and finish concrete as required
Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and efficiently
Identify and select appropriate lumber types, grades, and materials for each task
Load, unload, and transport materials to and from job sites
Erect scaffolding, ladders, handrails, walkways, and other temporary or permanent structures
Install temporary protections such as barricades, visqueen, and floor coverings
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping, vacuuming, and general site cleanup
Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored
Assist with receiving and handling material deliveries
Support and coordinate with subcontractors as directed by the Project Foreman or Superintendent
Perform painting and other related tasks as needed
Complete special projects and other duties as assigned to support overall operations
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions:
Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Ability to bend, kneel, squat, climb, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the day
Ability to work in varying environmental conditions including heat, cold, wet, and muddy job site conditions
Requirements
GED or High School Diploma
Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in commercial & industrial construction preferred.
OSHA 10 preferred.
Operator's certificate preferred.
Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task.
Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
